Howto Upsell
There is this plan i have a plan in my pea brain for how i work traffic, and through my tutorials and articles i am going to expound upon it. It has come to my attention though that an outline is really needed first. What i do and think is a good plan is not anything new, it is all stuff that other people have said and done first, so don't bust my balls because it is just the same old same old. After all, there is nothing new under the Sun.
The way i do things is in a basic pyramid design, lots of crap at the bottom and some better stuff on top. This works well for the upsell theory. The bottom layer is TGP/TGP2 galleries followed by Free Sites. Above them are the levels of AVS then comes the Premium sites, and at the very top is what is the best thing you have to promote. There are other kinds of sites of course, and it is up to you where and how they fit in. Sorry, but of course, your mileage will vary.
We are starting with our TGP/TGP2 galleries. Why both? Why not? Is TGP2 as big as TGP? No, but so what? There is no reason to leave money on the table, especially with how easy TGP/TGP2 galleries are to build. Besides, TGP2 allows you to teach your serfs that free porn is a pain in the ass and they might as well pay. There are a lot of people that promote premium sites with TGP galls and make money, i am not one of them. To me, that is fighting a hard uphill battle! A TGP serf is a cheap bastard or a n00b looking for free porn, not someone with a credit card in hand. The job of a good TGP/TGP2 gallery is to take the serf and convert him into some worthwhile for you. This guy will pull out a credit card, but he is resistant to the idea. He is EXREMELY resistant to pulling out the credit card for a large chunk of cash. But an email address is fairly easy. A raw click is easier. In sales, it is all about qualifying your customer and this is sales. The serf at your TGP/TGP2 gallery is qualified for your product because he clicked a porn link. The next thing on qualifying is to click an ad. Followed by giving something like an email address or preferably a credit card. Each of these qualification levels has a value. The better you are at closing a sale the less qualification steps you will have to send your serf through. If you can get the serf to click an ad, you can make money off them. If you can get the serf to kick a credit card to join an AVS system you can obviously make money from them.
Back to the pyramid, we start with the TGP/TGP2 level. If you are decent at marketing, you can send the serf to a FreeAVS. Preferably, a FreeAVS of yours placed on the next level of the pyramid. If not, go back to email and PPC sponsors while you work on your marketing skills. You can also insert Free Sites into this area if you cannot get a serf to kick out the credit card. You use the Free Sites to market your FreeAVS sites. A serf that has joined an inexpensive AVS has qualified a few times over. They want porn. They will click an ad. They will use a credit card online. Your FreeAVS sites (notice it's plural! Lot's of sites in a pyramid) will take this qualified serf and send him up into Premium AVS sites of yours.
The serf that joins a Premium AVS will probably join anything if it interests him and is properly marketed. What we have done is slowly worked a serf up through the qualification steps and made money at each step. Once he is into our Premium AVS sites, we start marketing the standard paysites to him and our premium paysites as well. Ideally, you will have paysites that you can plug into these upper levels of the pyramid. If not, well the big sponsors need to eat too.
This is of course a basic theory. The actual methods that work for you will depend on how much work you do and your skill at qualifying and closing sales. However, it is all traffic management, and that is what the pyramid theory does. It takes traffic in at a low level and then filters it out into ways that will make a profit. This also makes a method for you to check how well your marketing skills are. If you are good, you can skip steps. Personally, i like to add steps because each level is potential money. Also, i do not care how good a marketer you are, the stats always apply. You ARE going to have failures to close! So, you increase your spectrum of marketing and you increase your closes. Think on this for a minute: serfs stay at a site for an average period of time. Does this mean they join one site for 2 to 3 months then never buy porn again? Hell no! They move on to another site that is different and pay them too. A n00b serf has no real idea what is out there and if you get him into the bottom of your pyramid you stand a better chance of getting LOTS of closes from him. Upsell! Always upsell! If you sell your biggest package first you do not have much room for upsell.
